Dear Family & Friends,
We thank the Lord for our recent safe trip to the village of Oum and back. During the month of October a conference was held for 17 Village Health Volunteers in this village. Staff from Save the Children (who coordinate the VHV Program), a newly appointed government VHV coordinator, Moses Kapus, David Kasen, and ourselves went to take part in the graduation. The program was very well organized and enjoyable. PIM now has 39 certified VHV's working in remote villages.
This was also a good opportunity to take pictures to support the proposal for an expansion to the Oum Aid Post.
Moses Kapus was the guest of honor and we are very pleased with his recent government appointment as VHV coordinator as Save the Children gradually turns over the program to the PNG government. Moses (handing out the certificate) worked in Ambunti during the time Neal and Martha Kooyers were in PNG and he verbalize a desire to be a strong advocate for PIM with the government. The Lord provides in ways we could not imagine! Please continue to pray that the government will review PIM's request for health agency status and will provide funds to expand our health services to the people.
Yours in Christ
