Waelde Missionary News
The following items are taken from emails written by Hannes and Carolin Waelde, missionaries on loan to PIM from Liebenzell Mission of Germany.
2009
• In January we walked to Waskuk village with four nationals where Hannes preached about King David and I (Carolin) led a women’s group on prayer where they had many questions on training children and we left with praises in our hearts for fine fellowship and many attending.
• February 10 we flew to Moropote village to visit the Bible school and do maintenance work on the tractor, mower, and the generator, and on the 12th we hiked five hours to Hanasi to conduct worship services that evening and the next day.
• That afternoon we walked three and a half hours through the jungle to Bitara to see how the construction of the airstrip was doing and on Sunday Hannes had a full day preaching at the two worship services. Two years ago I (Carolin) had first met with the women and had been regularly corresponding with them, so it was wonderful for me to fellowship and worship with them again.
• February 16 we walked back to Hanasi to stay overnight and had services with the women again. I (Carolin) really appreciated Sabet (Elizabeth Thomas) of Moropote who leads the women’s group there and accompanied us. She knows you, Martha, and has such a cheerful and friendly manner. She made us all laugh a lot and enjoy meaningful conversation in our wokabaut that included checking and cleaning my legs from the dozens of leeches that had come out in the rain.
• The Lord led us through the Hunstein jungle. We met many people who were thankful to see us. We had a lot of opportunities to share the Good News but also hear some amazing testimonies.
Thanks so much for your prayers. Through them the Lord accompanied us with I Peter 3: 15 on our trek.
“In your hearts reverence Christ the Lord. Always be prepared to make a defense to any one who calls you to account for the hope that is set within you, yet do it with gentleness and reverence.”
